Curriculum

Visual Arts

The school has a well equipped art room.  All classes from Year 1 to 6 spend 70 minutes a week here where the specialist teacher conducts classes in visual arts.  Areas of study include painting, sculpture, drawing, clay work, puppets and much more.  The work created by the students during these sessions is displayed proudly around the school.

 

Languages other than English (LOTE)

The LOTE provided at Guildford Primary School is Indonesian.  All students from Year 2 upwards have one hour per week instruction in Indonesian. 

 

Physical Education

The physical education programme is an integral part of the overall learning at Guildford Primary School. The children develop a wide range of skills and are exposed to a variety of sports such as athletics, badminton, AFL, soccer, hockey, cricket, tennis and tee ball.
The children in Years 1-6 participate in cross country and athletics carnivals, while children in Years 4-6 have an opportunity to participate in interschool athletics, cross country, football, netball, soccer and cricket.
Amongst the schools tested by Sports Challenge, Guildford Primary School’s children were in the top ten schools for fitness.

 

Music

Music is also offered to selected students in Years 6 through the School of Instrumental Music.
